How to show up on
Google Maps in Raleigh
Google says local results come down to relevance, distance, and prominence. You can’t change distance, but you can do a lot about the other two, most of it free.
What Google says it looks at
from Google’s help pages- Relevance: how well your profile matches the search. Complete, detailed information helps
- Distance: how far you are from the search or the searcher
- Prominence: how well known you are, based partly on website links and reviews. More reviews and positive ratings can help
Google says you can’t request or pay for a better local ranking, so a guaranteed spot is something it says does not exist.
Set up your Business Profile properly
free, and first- Verify the profile
- Pick the one category that says what you are
- Keep hours right, holidays included
- Customers come to you? Show your full address. If you only go to them, Google says to remove it and list up to 20 service areas
- Add real photos of your work, place, and team, and keep adding
Reviews: ask, then answer
the part of prominence you control- Ask every customer for a review, not only the happy ones. Google forbids selectively asking for positive reviews or rewarding anyone for one
- Reply to reviews. Google says replies show you value feedback
- Never write, buy, or swap reviews; Google forbids fake engagement
Where your website comes in
it has to back up the profile- Match your name, address, phone, and hours to the profile
- Give each service and each place you serve its own clear words
- Put the facts in the page and structured data
- Make it fast on a phone, where people tap “Directions” and “Call”
- Link the profile and site to each other
I can’t promise a position on the map, and nobody honest can. I can build the site to back up your listing and tell you what it is doing.

Why am I not on Google Maps?
Usual reasons: an unverified profile, missing details, the wrong category, or a search from far away. Verify it, fill in every detail, then work on reviews and your website.
Do I need a website to be on Google Maps?
No, a profile can show up without one. Google says prominence also counts links from other websites, and a site gives customers a place to check you out.
Should I show my home address?
Only if customers come to you there. Otherwise Google says to remove it and list your service areas.
Can I pay to rank higher?
Not in ordinary results: Google says you cannot request or pay for a better local ranking. Ads are separate and labeled.
